What Can I Do if Furnace is Not Working?
Here are a few things that you can try when you have a furnace that is acting up for one reason or another. This can help you keep your home warm and are simple solutions to fixing your furnace.
– Thermostat: The first thing that you need to do if your furnace isn’t heating your house properly is to check the thermostat. You first need to make sure that the thermostat is on. If it isn’t, you might need to replace the batteries or make sure that the electrical circuit that it’s wired to hasn’t been tripped somehow. After that, you need to ensure that the thermostats settings are correct. Make sure that the heat is turned on and that the temperature is right.
– Circuit Breaker: If your thermostat seems to be in working order, the next thing to check is the circuit breaker that runs your furnace. Sometimes, this can get tripped somehow. If your furnace isn’t getting electricity, it isn’t going to work at all.
– Filter: If your furnace isn’t getting the airflow that it needs, you might be dealing with a furnace that has overheated and won’t turn on. Make sure you’re replacing your filter often and that your furnace is getting airflow to avoid this problem.
– Furnace Door: When the door on your furnace isn’t closed all the way, the safety switch is going to not allow the furnace to turn on. Make sure it is closed tightly and that the switch button is pushed all the way, or the furnace will not run.
– Power Switch: Your furnace has a power switch next to it that will look like a light switch. You need to make sure that hasn’t been turned off somehow. If this is the case, it would explain why your furnace isn’t heating your home.
– Gas: A gas burning furnace is going to need a gas supply in order to heat your house. There is a gas line next to the furnace that can be shut off using a valve. Make sure the gas line is open and that your furnace is getting the much-needed gas to operate.
